My Nespresso Vertuo makes THE BEST at home iced coffee, hands down! I have tried numerous coffee gadgets and I always come back to my beloved Nespresso machine. Keep reading to find out how I make my easy iced coffee recipe using my Nespresso Vertuo.

Nespresso makes different machines that highlight specific coffee functions. I happen to have the Vertuo line, which can make a shot of espresso OR a normal cup of Joe.
Why Nespresso Iced Coffee is different

- Consistency: Every Nespresso pod has a unique barcode. This barcode controls the extraction process, which leaves no room for human error.
- Taste: This is where the Nespresso blows other coffee makers out of the water! Every single pod I have ever tried has been top notch in taste. Most of the Keurig pods I’ve tried are weak and have a chemical taste to them.
- Texture: Nespresso shots always come out creamy with a good amount foam. This crema creates a smooth texture and is the signature feature of the Nespresso machine. You will NOT get this type of crema with a standard coffee maker.
- Sustainable Pods: Most coffee pods are made of plastic. Nespresso pods are made of aluminum. Why? Well, according to Nespresso’s website, aluminum pods are easier to recycle “infinitely”. It doesn’t stop there! For an added bonus, Nespresso composts their recycled coffee grounds into nutrient rich soil!
- Free Recycling Bags: Sustainability is a focal point of Nespresso’s business model. If you go to Nespresso’s website, you can order a free recycling bag for your used pods. All you have to do is place your pods in the bag, seal it, and drop it off at any UPS store. To order your free recycling bags, click here.
- Easy to Use: Some coffee gadgets are way too complicated for the average coffee drinker. In contrast, the Nespresso machine is extremely user friendly. All you have to do is insert the pod and press one button. The machine really does all the work for you.
Cons of purchasing a Nespresso

- Price: This machine is not cheap like a traditional coffee maker. It’s not even as cheap as most Keurigs. The machine I have, which comes with the Aeroccino, retails for roughly $180.
- Exclusive Pods: You can’t purchase Nespresso pods anywhere like you can with Keurig pods. Because of this, I normally purchase my Nespresso pods on the Nespresso website or Amazon.
- Non-Organic Pods: As far as I know, Nespresso does not sell organic coffee pods. For some people, this is an absolute deal breaker and I completely understand why! Purchasing organic coffee is always best! If you want to keep your coffee organic, this may not be the machine for you.
Aeroccino: A must have Nespresso Accessory

Most Nespresso bundles come with an Aeroccino. If your machine doesn’t come with an Aeroccino, I highly recommend you purchase one when possible.
The Aeroccino froths milk with very little effort. If you use “normal” cow’s milk, you will get the best froth. BUT DO NOT FEAR! Alternative milk for those of you who are dairy free will froth too!
The Aeroccino also has a hot AND a cold setting! To make hot drinks, press the Aeroccino button once. The light will turn red and your frothed milk will stay warm. If you want an iced coffee, press and hold down the button until it turns blue. Your frothed milk will stay cold.
How I store my Nespresso pods

There are many options when it comes to storing Nespresso pods, but I personally recommend taking advantage of vertical space whenever possible.
When I originally started storing my Nespresso pods, I kept them in a glass jar. This did the job, but it was annoying having to constantly unscrew the lid when I needed a pod.
For Christmas, my dad bought me this Nespresso pod holder. It holds up to 40 Vertuo pods and is such a practical space saver! I highly recommend this specific pod holder because it’s sleek and inexpensive.
Ingredients for Nespresso Iced Coffee

- Chiaro double espresso pod. I purchased mine here.
- Milk/creamer. I use a mixture of lactose free milk and vanilla creamer, but you can use any milk alternative you desire. Some lactose free ideas are almond, cashew, oat, soy, or coconut milk.
